Choreography: José Limón
Lighting design: based on original design by Tom Skelton

First produced by the José Limón Dance Company in 1949, this work is considered world wide as a choreographic masterpiece. Using the rich music of Henry Purcell, this tour de force portrays the conflicts and passions of Shakespeare's Othello's four principal characters, brilliantly transposed within the formal framework of a court dance. Dance Alloy Theater is the first modern dance companyin the world, outside the Limón company itself, to be given the rights to perform this work.

"The dancers made this modern dance classic burn
with fresh intensity."

- Pittsburgh Tribune Review

"The beauty of Limón's patterns and the lush way
he created an epic dance with just four characters
took precedence, enhanced by the passionately
committed performances."

- Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
